nanny (noun) – A hired help that a family employs to take care of their child while they are away at work. In a perfect world, a nanny would act as the second mother; providing utmost care and attention, preventing accidents or any untoward incidents to happen to the child. Alas, we live in an imperfect world.
National Basketball Association or NBA (noun) – The pre-eminent basketball league in North America that every local basketball player in the Philippines hopes to be the first to play in.
network rivalry (noun) – Competition between two television networks where both tries so hard not to mention the name or the talents of the rival network on their shows. Exception occurs when one network wants to boast on their respective news program about how they beat their competition in the ratings, thereby mentioning the rival network’s name in the process.
news (noun) – Recently transpired events that networks deemed important or noteworthy to share to its viewers. Information relayed may or may not be accurate and are oftentimes sensationalized. After a few weeks of reporting on the same subject, the network would move on to new topics because Filipinos easily grow tired of the same old shit.
