Netizens Urged to Wait At Least 24 Hours Before Reacting to Controversial Statements

MANILA, Philippines — Chief presidential legal counsel Sal Panelo issued a reminder to all netizens to refrain from immediately reacting to controversial statements made by any cabinet member of the Duterte administration; saying that comments, specifically negative at that, should be held back for at least 24 hours, until further clarifications are issued.

Hindi porke sinabi ni Gen. Bato na sunugin nyo yung bahay ng mga drug lords, eh gagawin nyo na agad,” said Panelo. “Alam mo naman gaano kadalas mag joke ang mga tao ni Pangulo.

Panelo urged netizens to wait at least 24 hours before giving in to their impulse and posting snarky comments.

“Please wait until we have issued any clarifications regarding comments made 23 hours earlier,” he explained. “Kasi if not, kayo ang mag-mumukhang tanga.”

Panelo was surprised that people believed that the president was serious about his threat of pulling out of the United Nations (UN).

Kung hindi kayo makaantay ng bente kwatro oras, eh busisiin nyo nalang yung paraan ng pagkasabi, kasi madalas po ay may telltale signs na nagbibiro lang ang isang tao,” he added.

These telltale signs according to Panelo ranges from rape comments, arson instructions, murderous prodding and other heinous and violent terms that are often used in jokes. Netizens should no longer rely on winks, smirks or laugh tracks to differentiate an honest, straight-faced  comment, from that of a joke or comment made for dramatic effect.

Also, the time the statement was made should also be a factor. “If the rest of the country is sleeping, and the president is still talking, alam na.

He went on to add that if rape jokes and inciting murder are common humor topics that is the trademark of this administration; misogynistic comments and allegations written on a piece of paper should, in contrast, be taken very very seriously.

Dahil nagiisa lang po ang babaeng mataba sa buong mundo na naka salamin at may sex video, at hindi basta-bastang pwedeng magdrowing sa isang papel ang sinuman at tawagin itong matrix.

  1. No, no!

Telling them to wait after 24 hours to critically analyze the statements of Lakay Digong is wrong! It is an affront to their freedom of expression! In this day and age of free Facebook, critical thinking is a symptom of brainwashing by the Kultong Dilaw!

    #sarcasm

  2. It’s high time to appoint Mocha Uson as the head of the Philippine Information Agency. She is fit to hold that position–any position, actually–because she knows how to act as a bridge between Tatay Digong and the masa. In the threesome of information dissemination, she is the middlewoman–the top source of critical information. In fact, less than 24 hours is enough for her to debrief the public about the gospels of Tatay Digong. Mocha, please enlighten the Filipinos. Tatay Digong, we praise thee. (This is a satire website, should you ask.)

  3. Calling anyone “mataba” is derogatory and no different from racial discrimination. Panelo, you’re a bully and should be ashamed of yourself for abusing your position of power and connection.

  4. Disgusting to say the least. From which planet did this lawyer come from? Everytime he opens his mouth and starts talking, literally, my jaws drop!!!! I literally want to cry for having to bear the trash that comes from his mouth. Yes, I can choose not to listen to his pronouncements and beginning today, I choose to do that!

  5. People are urged to wait at least 34 hours before reacting to controversial statements. Boy, what kind of statement was that? In short, we need to give them a chance to re-examine what they’ve said. These are people holding some of the highest positions in the country, and they want to be treated like spoiled brats? But if no one would immediately react, how would they know that what was said was unacceptable? Would he have the common sense to accept that he was wrong if no one would react? This guy is such an imbecile. And he is a lawyer? We used to call lawyers like him, Attorney Agaton. That comic character who was so dumb.

  8. How about the political leaders take a 24-hour cooling period before they shoot off their mouths? That will save the country a lot of time and effort and the citizens don’t have to wade through disinformation and emotional venting.
