PBA to Sue the Entire Philippines for Agreeing With Orton’s Remarks

MANILA, Philippines — After issuing a P250,000 fine to Purefoods Star Hotshots import Daniel Orton for saying that Manny Pacquiao playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) was a joke, the league has decided to file a class action lawsuit against the entire country for agreeing with the import’s statement.

PBA Media Chief Bureau Willie Warcial said on Saturday, that Filipinos must be fined for “agreeing with comments that are disparaging, disrespectful of, and offensive to a professional player and head coach of a PBA team.”

“That’s a joke,” said Orton, 24, who put up only 6 points and 3 rebounds in 19 minutes as he battled foul trouble. “That’s part of the joke I was talking about.”

“Professional boxer, yeah okay. Congressman, alright. Professional basketball player? No. It’s a joke. Seriously, it’s a joke,” the former NBA player added.

from Rappler

orton_manny“We will file the necessary paperwork next week in order for the case to proceed in court,” said Warcial about the landmark case. “A nation who thinks that a boxer turned TV host, turned politician, turned evangelist is not deserving to be a professional basketball player should definitely have their noggins checked.”

Warcial believes that somebody who brought pride numerous times to our country deserves to get paid professionally in any fields that he or she chooses.

Kahit na maging professional cross stitch designer pa sya, aba’y dapat natin syang suportahan,” he added. “Dahil si Manny Pacquiao ‘yan. Kahit na maging professional dragon dancer or stand-up comedian pa ‘yan, wag na wag natin syang pagtatawanan.

PBA is seeking to impose a fine of P250 to each and every 101,207,066 Filipinos who agreed with the former NBA player’s sentiments.

Defendants React

Kung papipiliin ako between Bubble Gang and a PBA game involving Pacquiao & Kia, hulaan mo anong papanuorin ko for the sheer comedic value?” asked Reyes hypothetically.

Another defendant, Roberto Kho, a sports enthusiast and basketball fanatic agreed with Orton as well.

Hahahaha OWNED.

  1. i think , Orton is have a mistake by saying that joke but honestly what happening to this country ? every single time that manny pacquiao goes for sort of decision or a publicity , people goes wild. yeah he is an icon in boxing but he is a horrible pro basketball player come on.

  2. oh common … wait up PBA people !!!

  3. I think Hanson Reyes should think about what hardworking means. Manny’s fame and fortune did not just fall from a tree. Manny’s fame and fortune came from bruises and cuts due to boxing injuries so if Hanson Reyes thinks that Manny isn’t a hardworking player then he should try boxing so he’d know. Manny may have used boxing to earn fame and fortune but in the end, the entire Philippines benefited from it. I think he deserves to play basketball. Whether it looks ridiculous or not.

    • Like you said, manny’s fame and fortune came from bruises and cuts due to boxing injuries. “Boxing” and not basketball. Yeah he is hardworking. But we are talking about basketball here. And that’s what Reyes is referring to.

    • agree… hardworking in boxing. but we are talking about basketball. where is the hard work that when in to get him into the PBA. there was no hard work . on the bargaining table …. yes….. it is a joke. boxing na lang sana

  4. hahaha i dedemanda buong filipino aba eh malaki tama mo sir! sa pagkaka alam ko kasama sa democracy ang freedom of speech! Im not a fan of PBA anymore and I dont give a damn of what orton said.

  5. dpat kc c paCman kht sana maimpluensya xang tao..sana kung gusto nya gumawa ng name s PBA as pRo..Sana dumaAn xa s tamang procesS para naman maresPeto xa pgdating s BAsketbAll…ni ndi nga xa ngLaro s D-league…tapoz pinapenalty p nila ung ngcoMpliment n joke xa…lahat tlaga joke..
