MANILA, Philippines — GMA Films revelead to the entertainment press yesterday, it’s entry for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) that would even break the box office record set by No Other Woman.
It was recently reported that Star Cinema’s No Other Woman made it to the list of top 15 highest grossing movies shown in the Philippines this year, coming in at third after Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which came first and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 second.
The story is about a woman’s journey towards building a career and a family that she can competently provide for, but along the way, her ambition and reputation are tarnished by a single adulterous act. It is currently but tentatively titled No Other Man with the movie starring Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera and featuring, Dingdong Dantes.
In a strange twist, Dingdong Dantes would be playing dual roles, both as the husband and as the third party involved. This was rumored to be a pre-requisite by Marian Rivera herself for her to accept the project. This would be Ms. Rivera’s second MMFF entry as she is also top-billed in the movie Panday with Sen. Bong Revilla.
A script writer that is part of the production team let slip a few details on why the studio was very confident that it would break box office records. “We are applying an if you can’t beat them – join them mentality in our approach to this movie. We would be incorporating scenes where both Marian and Dingdong are watching the Transformers movie sequel. In another scene, they are seen watching the Harry Potter finale naman. If this doesn’t break box office records, we don’t know what else will.”
When asked about the rumors regarding the decision that made the lead actor playing two roles, our source told us that it was not their call, and the demand was made by Marian Rivera as a take it or leave it ultimatum. “We don’t want another scandal where there is another catfight between Marian and Dindong’s leading lady, so we decided to take this path to avoid confrontations.”
“Loyal fans should not worry that we are breaking their love team. If anything else, this movie proves that
Marian’s control over Dingdong it is as strong as ever.”
No Other Man would be shown in theaters nationwide on 25th of December as part of Metro Manila Film Festival.
