MANILA, Philippines — The camp of Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has offered to help the government in securing a reprieve for the convicted Filipino drug mule, after the Chinese government refused the mercy mission of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
In exchange for something.
In a 3 page document submitted by her spokesperson, Elena Bautista-Horn; Arroyo is offering her vast expertise, knowledge and charisma in dealing with the Chinese government with the aim of delaying the execution until after the Christmas season or better yet, have the sentence commuted to life imprisonment; depending on what Malacañang will offer her.
“Mrs Arroyo is guaranteeing the Philippine government what VP Binay can’t. The ball is now on PNoy’s court, we’re waiting for their next move,” said Horn.
When asked what the Congresswoman want in exchange for her help, Horn said “It depends. If you want a delay in execution, house arrest will do. But if you want it changed to life imprisonment, drop the charges and let us
hide fly to Singapore.”
This early, the Arroyo camp is calling the proposed mercy mission as “Don’t put the drug mule to sleep”, hoping that the aptly named mission would generate public support and backing.
CGMA is known to have past dealings with China with the most notorious of which is the halted NBN-ZTE deal, as well as various mining deals around the country.
We’ll have more on the decision of Malacañang as soon as it is made available.
